Measuring laminate or wood flooring

Wood flooring and laminate flooring usually comes in packs of different shapes and sizes so it depends upon the flooring you choose as to how many packs you will need. Just measure the room size and then ask in-store as to the floor coverage of each flooring pack size.

  • Measure the widest points of the room
  • Allow for any doorways
  • And most inportantly, measure it twice

Measuring stairs carpets

Measuring for stairs is a little bit more complicated the best way is to count the number of stairs you have and then measure each step from left to right and then measure along the top of the step making sure you include the riser part as well.

  • Measure the width of the stairs
  • Measure the depth (up and down) of a step
  • Measure the foot step depth of the step
  • Add the depth and foot step depth together and times the amount of steps you have to get length
  • And most inportantly, measure it twice
